Walter Magaya, founder and leader of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries, is expected to return to court next month for trial on four counts of rape involving congregants or employees.
Magaya was granted bail by the High Court in Harare on Thursday, 5 February 2026. The case relates to allegations that are said to have occurred between 2016 and 2023, with complainants claiming they were sexually assaulted under various circumstances, including during prayer sessions, employment-related engagements, and private meetings.
He was initially arraigned before the Harare Magistrates’ Court on 26 January 2026, where the State opposed bail, citing the seriousness of the allegations and concerns that he might abscond or interfere with witnesses.
The matter was subsequently escalated to the High Court, which granted him bail yesterday under strict conditions.
As part of his bail terms, Magaya is required to deposit US$3,000 with the Clerk of Court, report twice weekly at CID Mukushi Academy every Monday and Friday, and surrender his passport.
He must also hand over the title deed for his Mount Pleasant property, reside at a specified address, and comply fully with all reporting and residency requirements pending trial.
The trial is scheduled to run from Monday, 16 February to Thursday, 19 February 2026, at the Harare Magistrates’ Court.
