Zimbabwe’s Agriculture Minister Honored as Best World Minister at Global Summit

Dubai, UAE | Zimbabwe’s Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries, and Rural Development, Dr. Anxious Masuka, has been recognized as the Best World Minister at the prestigious World Government Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Dr. Masuka received the award from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The accolade celebrates outstanding leadership and impactful governance, recognizing ministers who have significantly improved lives through transformative policies.

The World Government Summit features five key awards, including Best Minister in the World, Innovative Government Solutions Award, Global Best Government Applications Award, Global Government Excellence Award, and Best Teacher in the World Award.

Dr. Masuka’s award acknowledges Zimbabwe’s forward-thinking agricultural policies and initiatives aimed at enhancing food security and rural livelihoods. Among the key government programs recognized were:


✅ Presidential Agricultural Schemes – Providing farming inputs to support smallholder farmers.
✅ Livestock Development Programs – Including the Tick Grease Scheme, Pass-on Heifer Scheme, Pass-on Goat Scheme, and the Presidential Poultry Scheme.
✅ Climate-Resilient Farming – Promotion of Pfumvudza/Intwasa, a conservation farming technique.
✅ Farm Mechanization & Irrigation – Investment in modern farming equipment and dam construction for irrigation.
✅ Land Tenure Reforms – Issuance of bankable and transferable title deeds to resettled farmers.
✅ Rural Economic Development – Establishment of Village Business Units to boost local economies.

This is not the first time Dr. Masuka has been recognized for his work. In 2023, he was named Best Performing Minister by President Emmerson Mnangagwa for the second consecutive year, reflecting his consistent dedication to transforming Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector.

His latest achievement highlights the Second Republic’s commitment to sustainable agricultural development and climate adaptation strategies, ensuring food security and economic resilience in Zimbabwe.
