Zimpapers Implemented New Policy Prohibits Employees From Accepting Gifts After Phatisani, Chikuse Received Cars From Sir Wicknell

Zimpapers, a state-owned media company, has implemented a new policy prohibiting employees from accepting lavish gifts following a controversial incident involving businessman Wicknell Chivayo gifting radio presenters Phathisani Sibanda and Tinashe Chikuse with cars.

The radio presenters received Toyota Aqua vehicles after conducting an interview with Chivayo, adding to the list of beneficiaries of his extravagant gestures.

As a response, Zimpapers has introduced a gift policy for its employees, aiming to uphold ethical conduct within the organization.

According to the new policy, employees are prohibited from accepting gifts valued over US$100, which could potentially influence business decisions or create conflicts of interest.

Gifts of nominal value (less than $100) are allowed as tokens of appreciation or goodwill, but any gift given on behalf of Zimpapers must receive prior approval from the employee’s supervisor or the HR department.

Additionally, employees are encouraged to consider cultural norms and preferences when giving gifts, ensuring appropriateness.

Any gifts received on behalf of Zimpapers must be promptly reported to the supervisor or the HR department and recorded in the company’s gift declaration register for transparency and audit purposes.

Violation of the gift declaration policy may result in disciplinary action, including termination of employment. Employees with questions about the appropriateness of a gift are advised to consult with their supervisor or the HR department.

The memo outlining the new policy was signed by the Chief Executive Officer, Pikirayi Deketeke, and distributed to all Zimpapers employees.
