Zvikomborero Farms Pulls Out of Show, Accuses Chair of Changing Competition Rules

An exhibitor has withdrawn from the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, expressing anger over alleged rule violations.

Zvikomborero Farms accused Crispen Kadiramwando, the chairperson of the livestock division, of altering the competition rules.

In a letter obtained by Newsday, Divine Simbi-Ndhlukula, managing director of Zvikomborero Farms, stated, “Zvikombonero Farms (Pvt) Ltd is withdrawing its 2024 small stock entry from the ZAS competition with great disappointment and concern.

Our reasons, as discussed with Noah Matimba and other committee members since this morning, are due to the blatant changes to the competition rules.”

She highlighted that “Article 9 of the Livestock Entries Booklet requires that the breeder of an animal must own the dam at the time of the animal’s birth.

This rule was also reiterated in the exhibitor’s WhatsApp group, stating animals must be born and raised on the exhibitor’s farm, which led to inspections conducted by committee members at our farms.”

Simbi-Ndhlukula pointed out that one exhibitor had presented livestock not bred in Zimbabwe by the alleged breeder, Crispen Kadiramwando, who is also the chairperson of the livestock section.

She raised this issue with the adjudication chairperson, Noah Matimba, who initially claimed Kadiramwando would not be competing.

However, they were later informed that he would compete, as the animals were reportedly bred by him in Namibia.

Simbi-Ndhlukula further accused Kadiramwando of violating competition rules by presenting livestock bred in Namibia at the event.
