The Guruve community is gripped by paralyzing fear as the death toll linked to a suspected serial killer has climbed to a staggering 10 victims.
The escalating violence has sparked a massive outcry on social media, with citizens now pleading for the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) to intervene and assist police in apprehending the elusive suspect.
A dark cloud of mourning and anxiety hangs over Bosha Village in the Magaya area. Reports suggest that the killer is operating from a “hit list,” primarily targeting vulnerable widows. The sheer brutality of the crimes has left the local population feeling exposed and defenseless.
The crisis deepened on Monday evening when two more lives were claimed. These latest fatalities follow a horrific streak that included the slaughter of five members of a single family and three other residents from a neighboring homestead.
With the suspect still at large, the traditional sense of security in the village has completely evaporated. In a desperate bid for survival, residents have stopped sleeping in their own homes, instead gathering in large groups to spend the night together.
These communal “security camps” are a last-resort effort to manhandle or overpower the assailant should he strike again.
“People are terrified. We are no longer sleeping. We are huddled together like cattle because we don’t know who is next on that list,” said one distraught resident.

While local security agents are on the ground, the public is calling for a more robust response. The hashtag movements on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook emphasize that the rugged terrain of Guruve and the suspect’s ability to evade capture require the specialized tracking skills of the military.
The Guruve community now waits in a state of high alert, hoping that the authorities will bolster their presence before the “dark list” grows any longer.
