HARARE — Businessman and Senator Kudakwashe Tagwirei has been appointed to the ZANU PF Politburo as Secretary for Economic Affairs and Investment Promotion, capping a meteoric and unprecedented rise through the ruling party’s structures.
The appointment, announced in a statement dated October 15 by ZANU PF Secretary
for Information and Publicity Christopher Mutsvangwa, takes immediate effect and elevates Tagwirei into the party’s elite decision-making core.

The rapid ascent positions him directly at the helm of the party’s economic strategy and investment portfolio, a dramatic trajectory that shows his swiftly expanding political clout alongside his established corporate dominance.
The sweeping party reshuffle, executed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in accordance with the ZANU PF constitution, also impacted several other high-profile figures across key party organs. Mayor Wadyajena was appointed to the ZANU PF Central Committee, while long-serving senior official and former party Secretary for Science and Technology Obert Moses Mpofu was redeployed to the Council of Elders.

The structural changes collectively span the Central Committee, Council of Elders, and the Politburo.
