VICTORIA FALLS – The Mosi-oa-Tunya Development Company (Private) Limited (MOTDC), a development company under the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, has commissioned its new offices in Victoria Falls, a milestone in Government’s drive to accelerate tourism investment and infrastructure development in the tourism city.

Officiating at the ceremony, Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Barbara Rwodzi said the commissioning advances a vision conceived in 2012 to unlock Victoria Falls’ tourism potential.

Minister Rwodzi thanked President Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa for enabling the company to establish its first offices since its inception in 2012. She noted the progress made over the past two years, including the partnership with the J.R. Goddard Consortium.

The development comes ahead of works expected to begin at the 271-hectare Masuwe Special Economic Zone. The project is being delivered under a US$66.9 million public-private partnership with Victoria Seven Investments, which will provide essential water, sewer, electricity and telecommunications infrastructure.

Once complete, the Masuwe Special Economic Zone will diversify Victoria Falls’ tourism offering through hotels, lodges, villas, holiday homes, a golf estate, commercial and financial precincts, and medical tourism hospitals. It will also host a Gastronomy and Culinary Arts school, to be established in partnership with UN Tourism.
Further opportunities for sports tourism and investment are opening up with the Mosi-oa-Tunya Cricket Oval, which is being developed by Zimbabwe Cricket and is nearing completion.

Together, these developments are expected to broaden tourist experiences, attract investment, create employment and expand opportunities for local businesses.
The initiative aligns with the President’s Vision 2030 and National Development Strategy 2, positioning sustainable tourism investment as a driver of infrastructure development and economic growth.
