The Matabeleland Institute for Human Rights’ director, Khumbulani Maphosa, emphasised the urgent need for more robust support networks in both indigenous groups and society as a whole to assist young mothers, who frequently experience isolation and pressure. In order to avoid circumstances in which young mothers feel pressured to abort or abandon their children, Maphosa stressed the value of societal and familial support.
