A vengeful father murders his daughter to further his mining enterprise

Thomas Muzenda (38), an artisanal miner from Village 17 Mupukuta in Chireya Gokwe North, has been detained by Gokwe police in connection with the gruesome killing of his 1-year-old daughter.

After the little youngster was reported missing, the awful occurrence happened, leading to a shocking revelation that stunned the neighbourhood.

The man confessed to killing his daughter with a knife for ritualistic motives, according to authorities.

Thomas Muzenda stated that he sought the help of a traditional healer known only as Dhumba in an ill-advised attempt to improve his mining operations.

Following the suspect’s confession, law enforcement launched an investigation that ultimately led to the grim discovery of the victim’s remains. The tragic findings emerged from a disused well in the Zenda Mining area of Gokwe North.

In a statement, the police said:

Police in Gokwe arrested an artisanal miner, Thomas Muzenda (38) of Village 17 Mupukuta, Chireya Gokwe North, in connection with the callous murder of his daughter, Nenyasha Muzenda (1 year 2 months), who had been reported missing.

The suspect confessed to the police that he killed his daughter with a knife for ritual purposes to allegedly boost his mining activities after approaching a traditional healer only identified as Dhumba.

Police have since recovered the remains of the victim from a disused well at Zenda Mining area, Gokwe North.

In recent times, there has been a surge in reports of ritual killings, with the case of Tapiwa Makore’s tragic death garnering significant attention.

The late Tapiwa Makore met a tragic fate at the hands of his uncle, Tapiwa Makore Snr, and a herdsman who wanted to boost the cabbage business. The High Court recently delivered a verdict, sentencing both perpetrators to death for their involvement in this heinous crime.
