Controversial influencer Andrew Tate has been arrested in Romania for human trafficking and rape allegations.
Tate was nabbed with his brother Tristan and had his house raided in the capital, Bucharest. The Tate brothers’ legal representative confirmed the arrest to Reuters.
They have been under investigation since April, together with two other Romanian nationals.
Prosecutors said:
“The four suspects … appear to have created an organised crime group with the purpose of recruiting, housing and exploiting women by forcing them to create p*rnographic content meant to be seen on specialised websites for a cost.”
They added that they found six women who the suspects had sexually exploited.
Romanian officials swooped in on Tate after finding out through his social media account that he was in the country.

Tate was recently embroiled in a nasty Twitter fight with renowned feisty Swedish teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg. The same Greta who once remarkably trolled former US President Donald Trump.
Tate baited Greta and posted a picture of his luxurious Bugatti, seemingly bragging to the climate activist about the emissions of his “33 cars”.
Greta then clapped back in a tweet that has so far garnered over 3 million likes and left Tweeps rolling with laughter.

In reaction, Tate posted a video saying Greta was referring to herself. Someone then brought him a pizza in the video from a local Romanian chain, which seemingly made authorities suspect that he was in the country, leading to his arrest yesterday.
Tate, a former kickboxing world champion, is famous online for his “far-right and misogynistic views.”
In 2016, he entered the Big Brother house in the UK but was evicted after a video circulated in which he was hitting a woman with a belt.
This year, YouTube, Twitter, and other social media platforms banned him for saying women should “bear responsibility” for being sexually assaulted.
This made him wildly popular, so much so that he became Google’s most searched person of 2022.
Twitter reinstated his account recently after Elon Musk took over.
