Harare- Renowned preacher and life coach Apostle Langton Kanyati has made a grand return to gospel music circles with a soul-searching scorcher titled “Jesus is Coming,” which has already made a resounding debut on national airwaves.
The powerful single has mesmerising and motivating lyrics backed by two amazing female vocalists and pregnant with motivation.
The comes on the back of his debut album, “Handifambe Ndega,” a spiritually uplifting project recorded at Spirit Media Records in Harare.
The five-track album carries a rich blend of message and sound, featuring tracks such as “Haashanduke,” “Shouts of Glory and Victory,” “Look and Live,” “Fight On,” and the title track, “Handifambe Ndega.”
For the 59-year-old man of God, the release marks both a historic milestone and the fulfillment of a long-cherished calling to be a fisher of men through song — a journey that began back in 1983 when he gave his life to Christ at the age of 18 as a convert at the United Pentecostal Church in Chinhoyi.
An adept pianist and acoustic guitar player, Apostle Kanyati demonstrated remarkable resilience and patience over four decades of composing music without recording.
“I have composed more than 50 songs over the years, but I could not record all of them due to various reasons. I have lost some of my demo tapes that I had recorded, but I continued writing new songs. During the Covid-19 induced lockdown, I composed four songs and added one hymn to make my project complete,” said the affable pastor.
Alongside his wife, Apostle Florence Kanyati, the preacher leads ZOE Life Changing Ministry, using his musical talents to preach the eternal gospel of faith and offer hope to those in despair.
His commitment to expanding his ministry through both preaching and music has borne fruit, growing from their main assembly at City Bowling Club in Harare Gardens to branches across Zimbabwe in Kwekwe, Goromonzi, Epworth, and Domboshawa, as well as international assemblies in South Africa and the United Kingdom.
Reflecting on his upbringing in Chinhoyi within a family of seven — three girls and four boys — Apostle Kanyati credited his deep church roots for nurturing his musical gift.
“My father (John Kanyati) passed on in 1997 while my mother (Juliana) passed away in 1986,” he shared.
Supported by a dedicated management team comprising Eric Chiyangwa and Learnmore Tavengwa, the visionary cleric continues to craft gospel melodies effortlessly.
“Each time that I play my guitar or keyboard, I am inspired by melodies and tunes that help me to come up with new songs. I thank God for all these and other blessings,” he noted, as he works on accompanying video projects for the album.
