A Bulawayo man Patrick Ndlovu, aged 38, has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for attempting to murder his employer over a dispute involving US$8 in unpaid wages.
According to a statement released by the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), Patrick Ndlovu, employed as a security guard by the complainant, engaged in a confrontation on 16 January 2024 over the alleged unpaid wages. Ndlovu believed he was owed US$8 by the complainant.
During the altercation, Ndlovu repeatedly struck the complainant with a plank, targeting the head and face.
Following a legal process, Ndlovu was found guilty of attempted murder. He received a 12-month prison sentence, with two months suspended. The remaining ten months of his sentence were wholly suspended on the condition that he completes 350 hours of community service.

The NPAZ provided this information in a statement, underscoring the severity of the incident and the legal consequences for Ndlovu’s actions.

According to court proceedings, the incident unfolded when Kenward Kandenga spotted Nyabocho loitering outside his residence on Tuesday. Upon confrontation, Nyabocho attempted to flee, prompting Kandenga to give chase. In a desperate bid to escape, Nyabocho hurled a brick at Kandenga, narrowly missing his target.
