The trial of Chillspot producer Tafadzwa Mandaza, better known as DJ Rhibe, is scheduled to commence on January 25. Mandaza is facing serious allegations of raping a 14-year-old girl.
Mandaza, 32, was granted bail by the High Court late last year after being arrested in connection with the alleged incident.
According to the State’s case, on October 16, 2024, the victim failed to return home from school. When her father inquired, he discovered that she had been absent for two consecutive days.
The following day, the minor reportedly left her home with DJ Rhibe and others to visit Mashwede Village. While there, it is alleged that DJ Rhibe provided her with an unidentified substance and they smoked shisha.
The prosecution claims that on October 18, around 3 am, the girl and DJ Rhibe went to his residence. The complainant reportedly regained consciousness the following morning, only to realize that DJ Rhibe had allegedly had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
The girl was subsequently found in Highfield on October 19, 2024, after her family had filed a missing person report with the police.
The rape allegations came to light on October 20, 2024, when the complainant disclosed the incident to her father.
The trial is expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident and determine Mandaza’s guilt or innocence.
