Chitungwiza | A self-styled Zengeza prophet argued with his landlord over overdue rent about midnight on Monday.
Madzibaba Simbarashe Comrade Chinyanga was said to have threatened him with charms and a live surveillance lizard everytime he requested for rents.
He hadn’t paid his rent in six months.
When his landlord enlisted the assistance of a neighbour, Madzibaba Chinyanga attacked him.
Following the filing of a police report, the villagers assaulted Madzibaba Chinyanga and demanded that police reveal his equipment of trade.
The residents assisted in removing his possessions and evicting him.
Madzibaba Chinyanga’s wife was also compelled to leave their home and seek alternate housing.
He was taken into custody at St Mary’s Police Station.
“Vanonyepera vanhu kuti muporofita vasingabhadhare pavanogara uye vanemupurwa nezvingundu zvinoratidza kuti isangoma kwete zvekuporofita.
“He wasn’t paying rent, taking advantage of having powers to cause misfortune to his landlord since he is young following the death of his parents.
“We do not want him anymore in our area because he has divided a number of families with falsehoods,” said one neighbour.
Another neighbour told H-Metro that Madzibaba Chinyanga ripped her mattress claiming that there was a goblin causing her misfortune and charged her US$200.
She also lodged a fraud case against him.
