Clara Muroiwa Loses Over US$10k In A Botched Car Deal

Christopher Chibwana, a Director of a Mining Company Arrested for US$5m Fraud

Clara Muroiwa, a Harare resident, is reported to have lost almost $10,000 to a dishonest auto salesman. Last year, Pedzisai Matsvaru, who works for Arithmetic Logistics, allegedly tricked Clara by saying he would bring in a new car for her. Attracted by the deal, Clara paid US$10,400 in total (duty included), but the car was never delivered as promised.

Clara was disappointed and realised she had been duped. She made the decision to report the incident to the authorities in an attempt to hold the fraudulent transaction accountable.

In response to Clara’s report, the authorities detained Pedzisai on Monday. He is scheduled to appear in court today to answer to fraud-related accusations.

Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, a spokesman for the Harare provincial police, confirmed the arrest and said the suspect was an automobile dealer. According to Insp. Chakanza, “the suspect is expected to appear in court soon.”

In another story, Man Faces Fraud Charges for Forging Police Stamp,A 39-year-old man from Harare found himself in legal trouble after allegedly forging documents to lay claim to a vehicle he had lost in a court case.

Tapiwa Moses Maswela appeared in court on Friday, facing fraud charges related to the forgery of a Zimbabwe Republic Police General Headquarters dispatch office date stamp.

According to the prosecution’s case presented before Harare magistrate Mrs. Ruth Moyo, the chain of events began in February 2021 when Maswela filed a criminal case against Bernard Guveya for the unlawful use of property, specifically a motor vehicle, under Hatfield CR: 38/02/21.
