Harare | The government has set up roughly 100 fast response centres around the country where parents and guardians may report misbehaviour by school officials.
These include arbitrary price increases, unapproved additional courses, and barring entrance to pupils who have not paid fees.
More than 250 officers from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education have been assigned to investigate allegations of wrongdoing, such as physical punishment and discriminatory enrolling.
Taungana Ndoro, the Ministry’s spokeswoman, asked parents, guardians, instructors, and students to use the command centre focal points to report any misbehaviour that might harm the reputation of the education sector.
The government has also threatened to publicly name and disgrace institutions accused of unilaterally changing tuition and taxes without ministry clearance.
It has also launched a probe into schools accused of requesting US currency payments.
