Sean “Diddy” Combs has faced criticism from his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura’s legal team following his apology for assaulting her. The 54-year-old rapper and business mogul issued a statement saying he was “truly sorry” for the incident, two days after CNN released a video showing him attacking the 37-year-old singer at a now-closed Los Angeles hotel.
Cassie’s lawyers, however, have condemned his apology as self-centered. In the video posted on Instagram, Combs did not directly mention Cassie by name and instead spoke about his struggle with “dark” times, mentioning his subsequent therapy, rehab, and seeking God’s help.

Meredith Firetog, a partner at Wigdor LLP, the firm representing Cassie, told “Page Six”: “Combs’ most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt.”
She also pointed out that Combs had previously denied all accusations of abuse, suggesting his victims were after money. “That he was only compelled to ‘apologize’ once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words,” Firetog added.
