The much-awaited Doek and Slay event, originally scheduled for August 11, has been postponed to August 25, according to an announcement from the organizers.
In their statement, they shared, “We wish to inform you of an important schedule change for the Harare and Gweru editions of the Doek and Slay event.”
The event, which celebrates fashion, music, and culture, will still take place at Alexander Sports Club and feature performances by Killer T, Freeman, and Exq.
Attendees are encouraged to wear their best doeks (traditional African head wraps) and express their style with a dress code of denim, a white top, and a doek of their choice.

Doek and Slay is more than just a fashion gathering; it’s a celebration of African heritage, empowerment, and self-expression. It offers a space for participants to proudly display their cultural roots and connect with others who share similar backgrounds.
While the postponement has disappointed eager fans, organizers are optimistic that the new date will enhance the event, ensuring an even more successful and memorable experience.
The organizers explained that the date change was prompted by the SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government, scheduled to take place in Harare in August.
They also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the shift: “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.” As the new date nears, attendees are looking forward to an unforgettable evening of music, fashion, and cultural celebration.
The SADC Summit, involving leaders from 16 Southern African Development Community (SADC) member states, will be held in Harare in August, focusing on regional integration, economic growth, and political collaboration.
It’s presence in Harare is expected to affect the city’s event schedule, with some events being rescheduled or relocated to accommodate the high-profile meeting.
