Fake Rhodes Estate executor grilled in court

Gardener Confesses to Stealing US$70k

Lawyers representing two Harare men who stand accused of supplying false information to a public official have told the court that the complainant Elizabeth Parerenyatwa is a fraudster and criminal.

This was revealed by the defence during cross examination.

The lawyers said Parerenyatwa forged a Power of Attorney, and she deliberately failed to bring it as evidence to conceal her deeds.
“The documents which you say give you the power of Attorney were forged, and the accused persons are saying you are a fraudster and a criminal,”the defence said.

It was also revealed that none of the late Brian James Rhodes’ children were at the edict meeting, where she alleges that she was appointed her as executor dative.

Parerenyatwa admitted that she was not in Harare when the representations were made to the Registrar of Companies.
The lawyers put to Parerenyatwa that she has no evidence to prove that the accused persons made any representations to the Registrar of Companies.

Parerenyatwa failed to deny that when the late Brian James Rhodes wife Elizabeth Rhodes was asked to list her husband Properties and assests, she never mentioned any shareholding and Karoi Properties.

The lawyers produced an inventory prepared by Elizabeth Rhodes, which shows that she did not list Karoi Properties as her late husband’s property
“You imposed yourself from the Rhodes family. That’s why his children want you removed from anything to do with their property,”said the lawyers.

The lawyers added that Parerenyatwa was appointed executor dative in an edict meeting, which was not attended by Rhodes own children.
It was also revealed that the accused did not submit anything to the Registrar of Companies, but it was done by Verasity company.
