Four killed, 10 injured after kombi carrying 18 passengers overturns

HARARE – Four people were killed on Wednesday morning after a kombi with 18 people onboard rolled over near Sunway City in Ruwa, on the Harare-Mutare highway, police said.

Ten people were ferried to hospital by ambulance after surviving the crash at around 1.30PM, police spokesman Commissioner Paul Nyathi said.

“A Toyota Hiace Kombi carrying 18 passengers veered off the road before overturning and landing on its wheels,” Nyathi said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Zimbabwe is battling a spike in fatal road accidents blamed on a combination of excessive speed, inexperienced public transport drivers and poor roads.
