Getting To Know the Popular "Go and See Victor" Victor Matiyenga!

“Go see Victor!” This saying, made famous by businessman Wicknell Chivayo, appears to have evolved into a passcode that allows many of his carefully chosen benefactors to walk out of a Harare car dealership with a brand-new pair of wheels.

These crucial words appear in every announcement made by the notorious socialite to announce a new donation and beneficiary.

They’ve become so famous that regular people use them to make fun of each other, and comedians are even employing them in their routines these days.

However, who is this man who went viral overnight?

Some people think he works as a store employee at Exquisite Cars Dealership, doing the menial task of giving away freebies to the fortunate few.

“Sir Wicknell, thank you for your kind gestures. However, I believe it’s about time you told Victor to go have a look at himself kkkkk. Fit kana chimpo or aqua zvayo. One of the comments on Chivayo’s post says, “Anzwa nekutambidza vamwe mapango iye asina yake.”

One more said, “I know it hurts to be Victor.” Consider giving out automobiles when you don’t even own a pair of shoes that fit well.

Victor seems to have grown much since Chivayo made him famous, and he is taking advantage of the benefits that come with the title.

Scheduling a meeting with him is almost unattainable.

Upon arriving at the dealership with the goal of chatting with him, the Sunday Mail Society crew found out immediately that they required prior authorization and appointment to meet with him.

The security detail took us inside the business premises after we presented our name and professional details, ostensibly “for vetting.” It turns out that Victor, whose full name is Victor Matiyenga, is the dealership’s owner.

But he came from modest beginnings, if you can call it that, as he used to wash cars at his father’s capital car sales company.

He spent many years understudying his father until making his big break in 2014 when his grandfather offered him some cash to buy a car that he planned to resell.

According to legend, he purchased a Toyota Altezza, which essentially signalled the beginning of Exquisite Cars.

The business, which has expanded rapidly, now provides the nouveau riche with brand-new, top-tier automobiles to suit their tastes.

The businessman has drawn a lot of attention and left a lasting impression throughout the years.

As a result, he has received multiple accolades, including Businessman of the Year (Automotive Services) in 2020 and Company of the Year (Automotive Services) recognition for his company.

My father then told me, “You are not going forward, let’s go and work,” following my O-Level results. Victor stated, “And I said, let me continue,” during a prior interview with our sister publication.

So I began by giving the cars a wash. That was my responsibility. It was my responsibility to arrive at the office in the morning, grab a bucket, and wash automobiles. The elderly man believed I had no knowledge of the automobile industry, therefore I was forbidden from being close to consumers or from selling cars.

For nearly ten years, he was a car wash attendant, yet he never lost sight of his goal of becoming successful in the field.

Even though Victor has been extremely successful and has recently amassed a cool US$1.3 million from Chivayo’s buying spree, he is so modest that some have mistaken him for a general employee of the company.

Victor is described as amiable and accommodating by musician Mathias Mhere, who picked up the car that Chivayo presented to him at the well-known car auction.

“When I was engaging with him, I felt at home. He is a decent man who shows respect to everyone. It seemed like we had known one other for a while when we first met, Mhere remarked.

The well-known gospel singer claimed that he felt at home because of his prompt hospitality and the quality of his belongings.

Diana Samkange, who also received a car from Sir Wicknell, added her perspective.

Victor is quite modest, and he made my life very simple. I was really welcomed,” she remarked.

Victor’s ascent to national notoriety is a prime illustration of how social media can propel those who were not previously well-known to stardom. But it seems like Madzibaba Chipaga is winning more and more support these days.

It is unclear if the man of the cloth, who specialises in a Harare used vehicle dealership, will suddenly become a “celebrity” similar to his colleague Victor.

Madzibaba Chipaga primarily specialises with Toyota Aquas, whilst Victor offers brand-new, high-end cars.
