Han Jong-Hee, a co-CEO who significantly contributed to making Samsung Electronics the leading global electronics firm, has passed away at the age of 63.
Credited with the Korean conglomerate’s rise to prominence in the industry, Han died the previous day following a cardiac arrest, according to a company representative.
He leaves behind his wife and three children. While Samsung’s shares initially saw a slight decrease in Seoul trading, they later recovered.
A long-time employee who started in Samsung’s display unit over 30 years ago, Han was crucial in surpassing Japanese competitors like Sony.
An analyst noted that his impact on the consumer electronics sector was immense, particularly highlighting Samsung’s consistently strong position in the TV market under his guidance for the past two decades.
