Hopley Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges For Stabbing His Wife

An upsetting event occurred in Harare concerning Hopley resident Tichafa Mugwagwa, who is charged with attempted murder for reportedly killing his six-year partner after they decided to split up.

When Tichafa Mugwagwa, 40, appeared before Harare Regional Magistrate Mr. Taurai Manuwere, he was given a US$50 bail and placed under remand until June 4.

Prosecutor Mr. Anesu Chirenje stated that Mugwagwa and 39-year-old Rosemary Moyo were cohabitating and had been together since 2017. At around 7 p.m. on April 30, Moyo told Mugwagwa that she intended to break up with him for unspecified reasons. She then packed her things and departed from Mugwagwa’s house.

It is said that while Mugwagwa was walking Moyo to the bus stop, he suddenly attacked her and stabbed her in the collarbone with an okapi knife. After Moyo was hurt, he was taken right away to a hospital to receive treatment.

After being examined in detail, Mugwagwa was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder before the court.

The incident highlights how serious household disputes may be and serves as a reminder of how crucial it is to settle disagreements amicably and without using force.
