Israel marked the first anniversary of the deadly October 7 Hamas attack with emotional vigils at massacre sites and global rallies demanding the return of hostages.
The commemorations, led by President Isaac Herzog, included a moment of silence at Kibbutz Reim, the site of the Nova music festival where hundreds were killed.
Events were held across Israel and internationally to honor over 1,200 victims of the assault by Hamas militants from Gaza.
On the same day, Israel continued its military operations in Gaza, striking Hamas targets after projectiles were fired from the region.
Northern Israel also faced renewed rocket fire from Hezbollah in Lebanon, escalating tensions in the area. Families of hostages held in Gaza rallied in Tel Aviv, urging for their loved ones’ return, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to defeating Hamas.
The conflict, which has claimed thousands of lives on both sides, continues as Israel faces threats from Hezbollah and Iran, further complicating the regional situation.
