CBZ Holdings Limited, a financial services giant, has appointed Lexon Zembe as its substantive chairperson, effective from April 19, 2024.
Since December 1, 2023, Zembe has been acting chairman in the wake of Marc Holtzman’s departure.
CBZ said in a statement Wednesday that Zembe offers more than 30 years of financial industry experience to his new position.
“With effect from April 19, 2024, the board of directors of CBZ Holdings Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Lexon Zembe as chairman of CBZ Holdings Limited.” Since December 1, 2023, he has served as the company’s acting chairman, according to CBZ.
Zembe is an experienced business management consultant who has worked with several respectable local private, public, and non-governmental organisations.

Throughout his long career, he has held positions as Group Chairperson at CBZ Holdings Limited, Head of Human Capital Development and Change Management for Standard Chartered Bank throughout Africa, and Board Member at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.
Zembe’s leadership experience in a range of industries, including manufacturing, mining, banking, and commerce, was emphasised by CBZ. Additionally, he has made contributions to the Monetary Policy Committee and Advisory Board of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.
In addition to his MBA from Henley International Business School, Zembe is a chartered fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (UK) and a qualified business management consultant.
Zembe has also served in leadership capacities as the founding vice president of the Pan African Chamber of Commerce and Industry and as the former president of the Africa Chambers of Commerce.
Prior to his retirement on April 12, 2024, Zembe was an independent non-executive director on the ZB Financial Holdings Board.
