The 24-year-old man, in a disturbing turn of events, fell victim to a harrowing ordeal when he was kidnapped and s*xually assaulted by two individuals purportedly part of an HIV awareness campaign team operating at the Southlea Park Shopping Centre.
Lionel Chipunza and Edwin Geni, both associated with New Start Centre, found themselves before regional magistrate Donald Ndirowei, who ordered their remand in custody pending further legal proceedings. The magistrate directed them to seek bail consideration through the High Court.
According to the court proceedings, the incident unfolded last Wednesday when Chipunza and his colleagues were engaged in an HIV testing and awareness initiative at the Candy Shopping Centre in Southlea Park. The victim, motivated to undergo testing, willingly provided his personal information for registration purposes.
Subsequently, Chipunza purportedly extended an invitation to the victim to participate in a youth-oriented program scheduled to take place at Hopley Old Clinic. The victim accepted the invitation.

Days later, Chipunza contacted the victim again, this time urging him to attend a drug awareness session, which the victim duly attended. During this encounter, Chipunza initiated a conversation, delving into the victim’s personal details. It’s alleged that Chipunza, upon learning that the victim worked as a driver, offered him assistance in securing employment.
Chipunza then proposed a visit to his brother at the Blue Complex Shops in Hopley. However, Chipunza’s brother failed to materialize, leaving the victim and Chipunza waiting.
In a shocking turn of events, a black Honda Fit arrived at the scene, carrying unidentified individuals. Chipunza and Geni forcibly abducted the victim, bundling him into the vehicle before driving him to Chipunza’s residence.
There, Chipunza reportedly coerced the victim, at knifepoint, into ingesting a mysterious tablet before subjecting him to a horrifying act of sexual assault.
