Masvingo Man Kills Pregnant Girlfriend Over Infidelity

On Valentine’s Day eve, a Masvingo man is accused of killing his pregnant fiancée by strangulation while she was sleeping after a furious quarrel over adultery.

Before attempting to take his own life on Tuesday night by consuming poison, Owen Mataga, 36, of the Rujeko B area, is said to have strangled Faith Cheumbezo, 24 before waking up in the middle of the night.

After attempting to consume poison, Mataga is presently recuperating at Masvingo General Hospital under police guard, according to Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa, the provincial police spokesperson for Masvingo.

Before going to bed, Mataga and his girlfriend allegedly got into a heated disagreement, which led to their sharing a room at their leased home in the Rujeko B district.

Mataga allegedly became even more enraged by the replies his girlfriend was giving him on WhatsApp, so he woke up after she had fallen asleep and strangled her to death.
