"No Intent to Mislead" - Mayor Mafume Clarifies Address Mix-Up

Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume has reassured residents of his commitment to transparency and accountability following concerns over an address mix-up that has drawn media scrutiny.

Clarifying the situation, Mafume emphasized that the incident was a genuine mistake and not an attempt to mislead authorities or the public.

“As a public servant, I have always upheld the principles of accountability and openness. The mix-up regarding my address was an honest mistake, and I fully acknowledge the need for accuracy in such matters,” he stated.

The mayor further reaffirmed that he remains open to any inquiries regarding his residency, finances, or leadership, insisting that he has nothing to hide.

Mafume also welcomed scrutiny, highlighting its role in promoting good governance.

“I have no issue with any official verification processes. My record remains clear, and I will continue to serve Harare residents with integrity,” he said.

His statement follows speculation after reports surfaced alleging that he had provided a false address. However, sources close to the matter confirm that it was an administrative error rather than deliberate misrepresentation.

Mafume’s response aims to restore public confidence and reinforce his commitment to accountability and ethical leadership in Harare.
