HARARE – The highly anticipated 13th edition of the Shoko Festival will feature performances by Afro pop phenomenon Nutty O and legendary traveller and soprano Gemma Griffiths.
The Shoko Festival’s theme this year is #TheTakeBack, a rallying cry for young Zimbabweans to reclaim their space and art in order to build a brighter future for all.
The highly anticipated Peace In The Hood event, which usually serves as the big climax of the celebrations, will feature performances by Nutty O and Gemma Griffiths.
The pair is expected to live up to their reputation and deliver passionate solo performances.
The festival over the years has strived to ensure alternative urban artists get to share the same stage with the biggest artists across and beyond Zimbabwe.
Shoko Festival, a project of Magamba Network, through its cutting edge and trendsetting segmentation has emerged as a widely celebrated alternative for youth culture.
An array of international acts are set to thrill festival goers with South Africa’s Xabiso Vili, the current World Poetry Slam Champion, and Botswana’s multi award winning Afro pop artist, Jordan Mooz, also expected to charm attendees with their anticipated performance.
Shoko Festival convener Samm “Cde Fatso” Monro in a recent statement promised an electrifying cocktail edition coupled with powerful music and comedy.
“This year, we are giving the people an inspiring three days of powerful music, thought-provoking talks and riotous laughter.
“Join us to hear young people reclaim their voices and their art forms,” said Cde Fatso.
