Police Officer Isaac Chigidora Accused of Stealing US$623,462 from ZRP Consolidated Fund

A Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officer, Isaac Chigidora (28), who was responsible for administration and human resources for the ZRP Consolidated Fund, has been charged with embezzling a substantial sum of US$623,462.79.

Chigidora is accused of taking the money in cash from the safe deposit box of the consolidated fund. The alleged embezzlement occurred between September 2023 and July 2024, when Chigidora is said to have falsely reported transferring cash to Joyce Mine, a company that ceased operations in 2021.

The ZRP officer was arrested while serving as the officer in charge of operations in Mutoko. As the case progresses, Chigidora has been remanded in custody, and his bail application will be heard tomorrow. The ZRP is represented in court by Chief Inspector Lameck Munyaka, acting as the secretary of the ZRP Board of Trustees.

The State claims that Chigidora embezzled the funds and that none of the stolen money has been recovered to date. The investigation continues as authorities work to address this serious financial misconduct.
