Property Developer George Katsimberis Issued Arrest Warrant After Missing Court Appearance

Property developer George Katsimberis is now facing an arrest warrant after failing to appear in court for his trial on Monday. He stands accused of defrauding his business partner in a collapsed $1 million joint venture.

Katsimberis was expected to appear before Magistrate Vongai Guwuriro for a ruling on his request to have the case referred to the Constitutional Court. He argued that his constitutional rights were being infringed upon due to the absence of a Greek interpreter, which he claimed was essential for his effective defense.

His attorney, Tinomudaishe Chinyoka, sought a postponement, stating that Katsimberis had been hospitalized and that it was unclear when he would be well enough to attend court.

However, the prosecution opposed the request, insisting that the trial should proceed without unnecessary delays. Prosecutors stressed that the ruling on the referral application could not be determined in his absence.

Magistrate Guwuriro sided with the State, ruling that the trial could not be postponed indefinitely. Consequently, she issued a warrant for Katsimberis’ arrest.

Amid an ongoing legal dispute concerning the joint venture, Katsimberis now faces additional legal trouble for failing to attend his trial. His absence has sparked discussions on the legal procedures surrounding his defense and the broader impact on the case’s progression.
