Robbers Raid Kwekwe Service Station, Get Away Half A Million US$

Armed robbers raided a service station along Parson Road, Kwekwe where they got away with over US$ 582 500 and ZAR 58 400 cash.

In a statement seen by Pindula News, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the robbers were twelve. Reads the report:

The ZRP is investigating a case of armed robbery which occurred on 28/11/22 at around 0100 hours at a service station along Parson Road, Kwekwe.

Twelve unknown suspects armed with a pistol and an AK rifle tied the hands and legs of two security guards, who were on duty, with shoe laces before stealing a Dewalt drilling machine, US$ 582 540.00 and ZAR 58 430.00 cash which was in a table drawer and Chubb safe.

Police urged members of the public who might have information on the case to approach any nearest Police Station.

Meanwhile, three armed robbers pounced on Wakefield Lodges in the Chicago area in Kwekwe where they got away with cash, cell phones and other valuables.

Acting Midlands Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Fungai Ngawagare confirmed the incident. He told the Chronicle:

On the day Josephine Shekede, a waitress at the lodge was on duty when two persons approached the lodge pretending as if they needed overnight accommodation. Whilst attending to the suspects, one of them suddenly produced a knife from his waist and threatened the complainant with death if she did not give them money and all valuables.

The robbers force-marched her to her room where they took cash amounting to US$115 and two cell phones. They further took a Wi-Fi router before escaping.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to approach any nearest police station.
