A woman who went viral for causing a commotion on board a FlySafari plane during a flight from Durban to Cape Town on Boxing Day has been identified as SABC Brand Manager Nobuntu “Nobs” Mkhize.
The incident, captured on video by fellow passengers, shows Mkhize arguing with flight attendants over the drinks service. At one point, she is seen standing in the aisle, demanding a drink and forcibly pulling a flight attendant by the head in an attempt to move her.
FlySafair spokesperson Kirby Gordon confirmed that the situation was brought under control with the help of other passengers.
“We condemn any behaviour of this nature. Flight attendants have a primary duty as safety officers and interfering with their duties is a criminal offence,” Gordon stated.
Upon landing in Cape Town, Mkhize was handed over to the police. She has also been added to FlySafair’s no-fly list.
“This passenger will be placed on our no-fly list and will not be welcome on future FlySafair flights,” Gordon said, adding that after police take over such cases, the airline does not receive further updates.
