Sello Maake KaNcube criticized for accepting honorary degree from unregistered institution

South African legendary actor Sello Maake KaNcube has been honoured with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration, from Trinity International Bible University, but he has come under fire after it emerged that the institution is not registered.

This did, however, not dampen the actor’s spirit who was conferred with the Doctorate on Saturday, alongside her onscreen Skeem Saam girlfriend and award-winning actress, Elizabeth Serunye, who plays the role of Jacobeth Thobakgale. Maake KaNcube once played the role of a swindler and scammer on the SABC 1 soapie, Skeem Saam. He was a charming boyfriend to Thobakgale who left her penniless after scamming out of her thousands in pension money when she quit her teaching profession.

Serunye received an Honorary Doctorate in Philosophy from the same University. Maake KaNcube, 64, who presently appears on Mzansi Magic?s telenovela, Champions, was accompanied to his graduation ceremony by his young wife, Pearl Mbewe Maake KaNcube. She wrote on her Facebook page after the ceremony:

“I was like let me run before anyone hugs my newly honoured husband.Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Dr Sello Maake KaNcube. He promised that he is a God of miracles and miracles he shall always deliver! Jehova o tla teka tafole pontsong ya dira tsa hao!(Jesus will prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies)”

A man who has rubbed shoulders with countless celebrities, Bishop Abraham Sibiya of the The Christ Centred Church, (TCCC), also paid tribute to Maake KaNcube for his latest achievement.
