Susan Sibanda Charged With Defrauding 149 People Of $21,000
A fraudulent individual, suspected to be part of a scam targeting land seekers in Banket, faced court proceedings on Saturday.
Susan Sibanda, aged 64, stands accused of defrauding 149 people of a total of US$21,000 between 2018 and the present.
Allegedly posing as having authority from a person named Sarudzai Washaya, who claimed affiliation with the war veterans task force in Banket, Sibanda purportedly promised to allocate land to prospective buyers.

Victims were required to pay administration fees ranging from US$25 to US$2,500, with a total of 149 individuals making payments directly to Sibanda for plots of land that did not exist.
Upon her apprehension, Sibanda was found in possession of registers containing details of land seekers.
Earlier in the week, two other individuals, Perpetual Chimuti, aged 57, and Pedzisai Chikari, aged 46, faced similar charges in court.
It’s alleged that Sibanda actively promoted the fraudulent scheme to members of Zanu PF and the public, urging them to participate in the purported land allocations.
