HARARE — Business tycoon Kudakwashe Tagwirei was officially sworn in as Zimbabwe’s Minister of Economic Development and Investment Promotion on Monday during a ceremony presided over by President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House.
The swearing-in follows the restructuring of the ministry, which saw the executive split the former Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion into two distinct portfolios.
Under the new administrative framework, Professor Mthuli Ncube retains his role as Minister of Finance, while Tagwirei assumes sole leadership of the newly created economic development and investment promotion portfolio.
According to official communications, President Mnangagwa executed the appointment pursuant to Section 104, Subsections 1 and 6 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.
The structural split establishes separate mandates and leadership structures for state financial management and investment promotion. In his new executive capacity, Tagwirei will oversee government strategies aimed at facilitating foreign direct investment and spearheading national economic development programs.
