Three Mabvuku Women Face Murder Charges As Man Dies Two Days After Assault

Three women from Mabvuku have been charged with murder after allegedly assaulting a man at a bar in Old Tafara, leading to his death two days later.

Mavis Gambiza (36), Sharon Tayengwa (26), and Sharon Mafushe appeared before Harare provincial magistrate Mr. Isheunesu Matova and were remanded in custody until March 3, awaiting trial.

According to prosecutor Mr. Rufaro Chonzi, the incident occurred in the early hours of February 13 at Babylon Bar in Old Tafara. The three women reportedly confronted Charles Julius, accusing him of stealing Gambiza’s cellphone. During the altercation, they allegedly struck him multiple times on the head with a pot and other unidentified objects, inflicting severe injuries.

Julius was treated at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals under police reference OB1027/25 and discharged the same day. However, he died from his injuries two days later at home.

The suspects were arrested on the day of his death and later appeared in court. Magistrate Matova informed them that their bail application must be submitted to the High Court.
