The Humphrey Fellowship Program is for experienced professionals looking to improve their leadership skills through exchanges between the U.S. and their home countries.

Host Institutions:
Fellows are placed at various participating universities in the U.S. They do not choose the university; instead, they are assigned based on their professional field and interests.

Program Details:
This non-degree program offers professional development through university courses, conferences, networking, and practical experiences. Fields of study include:

Agricultural and Rural Development
Communications/Journalism
Economic Development
Educational Administration
Finance and Banking
Higher Education Administration
HIV/AIDS Policy
Human Resource Management
Law and Human Rights
Environmental Policy
Public Health Policy
Public Policy Analysis
Substance Abuse Education
Teaching English as a Foreign Language
Technology Policy
Trafficking Policy
Urban and Regional Planning

Number of Awards:
Around 200 Fellowships are given out each year.

Target Group:
Citizens from eligible countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe, the Middle East, East Asia, South and Central Asia, and the Western Hemisphere.

Scholarship Benefits:

Living allowance and settling-in funds
Accident and sickness coverage
Book allowance

Have an undergraduate degree
Have at least five years of professional experience
Have limited or no prior experience in the U.S.
Show leadership qualities and public service
Be proficient in English

Application Instructions:
Application deadlines vary by country but are generally from May to September. Nominations must be submitted to the Institute of International Education by October 1. For more information, contact the U.S. Embassy or Fulbright Commission in your country.
