US$5 000 plus car for Miss Environment Zimbabwe pageant winner

The stage is set for 60 models to do the catwalk for the semi-finals of Miss Environment Zimbabwe which are slated for 22 December at the Bulawayo Rainbow Hotel.

From the 60 contestants, the top 20 ladies will be selected to compete at the grand finale which is set for early February in 2023 where they will complete for the coveted title with the queen standing a chance to represent the nation in June on the international stage.

As if that is not enough, the grand winner at the finals will also drive away in a brand-new car and receive US$5 000 in cash.

On the adjudication panel will be businesspeople and socialites including former chief judge at the Miss Zimbabwe peagent Manhoko, former model and Zimbabwe Tourism Authority Godfrey Koti, JCI member Tatenda Mamina, reigning Miss Zimbabwe Belinda Potts and lawyer Priscilla DaSilva.

The guest of honour will be a representative from the Ministry of Environment and Tourism.

Philip Masuku who is the business liaison officer at Miss Environment Zimbabwe organisation said 100 models from all over the nation were scouted and the number was trimmed to 60 models who are expected to be at boot camp from 17 December.

“The stage is set for our semi-finals and we are excited by the number of models we received this year who wanted to be part of this contest.

“Sixty models will do the cat walk at the semis then we will select 20 models who will compete at the finals next year in February.

“The winner will represent Zimbabwe at global stages and she will also drive away a brand-new car and receive a sum of US$5 000 in cash,” said Masuku.

Miss Environment Zimbabwe seeks to promote environmental awareness looking at the core environmental issues bearing flora and fauna, biodiversity, aqua and ecosystem.

The pageant is also a plan which focuses on environmental projects which address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
