The Tongarewa Scholarship is a program that Victoria University of Wellington offers to recognise and assist its community of overseas students.
Those beginning their first year of an undergraduate degree or enrolling in a postgraduate program at the university are eligible for this award. It will be required of recipients to represent the university as ambassadors and, upon request, take part in marketing campaigns or associated events.

Number of Scholarships:
- Up to 10 scholarships of NZ$10,000 for Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees

Scholarship Benefits:
- Scholarships range from NZ$5,000 to NZ$10,000
- Partial fee coverage for one year of study
- Guaranteed offer of accommodation in Halls of Residence, subject to application by the deadline
Eligibility:
- International students commencing their first year of an undergraduate degree or entering a postgraduate program
- Must have received an offer of admission from Victoria University of Wellington (either conditional or unconditional)
- Must be paying full international fees
Application Instructions:
- Submit an online application before the deadlines: June 1, 2024, for Trimester 2, 2024, and September 1, 2024, for Trimester 3, 2024.
