The ex-police officer, who was on the run after killing three people and injuring one person, was arrested yesterday while trying to cross into Mozambique.
Jaison Muvhevhi had crossed the Zimbabwean side, but his luck ran out on the Mozambican side where he was caught.
In a statement, national police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the arrest of the gun-toting fugitive who went on a shooting spree that left the Officer-in-Charge of Wedza Police Station, Inspector Maxwell Hove, 43, apostolic church leader, Madzibaba Crispen Mubvana Kanerusine, 62, and barman, Munashe Mujanhi, 20, at Mukamba Business Centre before fleeing on Friday.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police acknowledges and appreciates the support given by members of the public in the pursuit of the suspect,” said Ass Comm Nyathi.
“The murder suspect has been arrested while trying to cross into Mozambique.
“We equally applaud the bilateral relations with our Mozambique police counterparts that led to the collaboration and arrest of the suspect,” he said.

Police had launched a manhunt for the fugitive ex-CID detective turned gold dealer.
Muvhevhi’s dumped the FN rifle he used in the Friday murders inside a Toyota Allion vehicle he abandoned in Chipinge as the hot pursuit continued.
It is suspected that Muvhevhi went berserk after his mother was reportedly given a prophecy by Madzibaba Crispen that he (Muvhevhi) used juju.
After being told of the prophecy by his mother, Muvhevhi then went to Madzibaba Crispen’s shrine and shot him in the head at point blank range.
He then shot and killed Insp Hove, and injured a CID officer as they tried to apprehend him. No reason is yet known why barman Mujanhi was shot and killed in Friday’s bloodbath.
