Xabi Alonso Former Liverpool midfielder has addressed the rumors linking him to a managerial role at his former club, following Jurgen Klopp’s announcement of his departure at the end of the season.
Alonso, who currently manages Bayer Leverkusen, has been touted as a potential successor to Klopp after leading his team to an impressive unbeaten start in the Bundesliga, with 15 wins and three draws from 18 games.
In response to questions about the Liverpool job during a press conference on Friday, Xabi Alonso emphasized his contentment at Bayer Leverkusen but left the door open for a potential move to Anfield in the future.

“While I’m very happy here at the moment and fully focused on my work with Bayer Leverkusen, I can’t rule out any possibilities for the future,” Alonso stated. “I’m fully committed to the challenge we have here, and I believe in the journey we’re on. Right now, my priority is to give my best for this club and help my players progress.”
He continued, “Honestly, I’m not thinking too far ahead. My focus is on the present, and I’m enjoying my time here. I believe I’m in the right place, but I’m open to whatever the future holds. At this moment, my main concern is the task at hand, and I’m not preoccupied with what lies ahead.”
