Yadah TV, a Zimbabwean-run channel on DStv (281) led by preacher Walter Magaya, will shut down today, January 31, 2025. The channel, which launched in 2018, was dedicated to broadcasting content related to Magaya’s ministry, the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance church in Harare.
DStv has confirmed the closure but has not disclosed the reasons behind it, issuing a brief statement:
“DStv regrets to inform you that Yadah TV will be ending its broadcast on January 31, 2025.”
Reports from *The NewsHawks* suggest that Yadah TV’s primary function was to promote Magaya’s religious activities, including controversial claims of miraculous healing and manipulative practices designed to encourage financial contributions from his followers.
Magaya has been embroiled in multiple controversies, including unverified claims of healing abilities, fabricated academic credentials, and a disputed honorary PhD from the University of South Africa, which is currently under investigation. Additionally, he has been accused of falsely claiming to have discovered a cure for HIV/AIDS.
Magaya also faces serious allegations of sexual misconduct, with rape accusations from church members. The case remains unresolved as it has yet to go to trial.
