MELBOURNE, Australia – Zimbabwe has stepped up efforts to attract more Australian visitors after hosting the Zimbabwe Australia Roadshow 2026, which brought together more than 40 tour wholesalers, tour operators and travel agencies to promote the country’s tourism sector.
Addressing delegates, Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Hon. Barbara Rwodzi, said tourism remains a key driver of economic growth, investment and sustainable development in line with Vision 2030.
“Australia is an important tourism source market for Zimbabwe, with 33,000 tourist arrivals in 2024 and 27,347 arrivals in 2025, highlighting the need to grow the country’s share of the Australian market,” she said.
Minister Rwodzi stated that Zimbabwe’s heritage-based tourism model and re-engagement agenda have positioned tourism as an important tool for strengthening international relations.

“Zimbabwe is a friend to all and an enemy to none,” said Minister Rwodzi.
She also showcased Zimbabwe’s major tourist attractions and highlighted the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA) UniVisa, which allows visitors to travel easily between participating Southern African countries.
“The Government continues to invest in road and air infrastructure to improve accessibility and enhance visitors’ experiences,” Minister Rwodzi added.
She also invited Australian tourism stakeholders to attend the Sanganai/Hlanganani Dzimbahwe World Tourism Expo, which will be held from 9 to 12 September 2026, to strengthen tourism partnerships and investment.
Welcoming delegates, Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Australia, His Excellency J.T. Mhishi, reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s commitment to strengthening relations with Australia through tourism.
“Zimbabwe is Open for Business,” Ambassador Mhishi said, reaffirming the Government’s commitment under President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa’s policy to promote trade, investment and tourism.
