Former Chegutu West Legislator Dexter Nduna Arrested Over $41k Debt Drama

Kadoma, Zimbabwe – In a dramatic turn of events, former Chegutu West Member of Parliament Dexter Nduna has been arrested and detained following a heated confrontation with the law over an unpaid US$41,000 debt.

The embattled former legislator is currently held at Kadoma Central Police Station under case number Cr43/1/26. Sources close to the investigation confirm that Nduna is facing serious charges of obstruction of justice after allegedly preventing a Messenger of Court from executing a legal mandate.

The arrest follows an incident where a Messenger of Court arrived at Nduna’s residence to attach property—specifically a Toyota Fortuner—to satisfy a court-ordered debt amounting to US$41,000.

Instead of complying with the judicial directive, Nduna reportedly took a defiant stance. Allegations suggest that the former MP threatened to unleash his dogs on the court official. Fearing for his safety, the Messenger of Court was forced to retreat from the premises without the vehicle.

A Bold Counter-Report

In a move that has raised eyebrows, Nduna did not wait for the police to come to him. Shortly after the Messenger of Court fled the scene, the former MP reportedly visited the same police station to file a counter-report against the official.

However, authorities proceeded to take Nduna into custody based on the initial allegations of obstructing a legal process.

The former MP is expected to be hauled before the Kadoma Magistrates’ Court this Wednesday. Legal experts note that obstructing a Messenger of Court is a serious offense that undermines the judicial system, and all eyes will be on the court proceedings to see how the defense navigates the “dog threat” allegations.

As the story develops, questions remain regarding the origins of the US$41,000 debt and whether the Messenger of Court will make a second attempt to seize the Toyota Fortuner.
