Celebrities Running In Zanu-PF Primary Elections

Sandra Ndebele turns 41

With the election season looming ahead, numerous celebrities have expressed their interest in contesting under the Zanu-PF banner for the 2023 polls.

Unfortunately, Zanu-PF’s primary elections, originally slated for today, were postponed due to an unprecedented surge in member participation.

Curious about who these celebrities are? Below is a rundown of those eyeing to represent Zanu-PF in the 2023 elections:

Multi-talented musician Sandra Ndebele-Sibindi who has graced our tv screens and stages now seeks to venture into the world of politics.

As Chairperson of the Zanu-PF affiliate organization, Young Women for Economic Development, she has set her sights on representing her party in Ward 20 Pelandaba-Tshabalala in Bulawayo.

However, her journey towards this political ambition will be no walk in the park, for she faces a formidable challenger in the form of Thabo Freedom Thwala, a prominent member of the Zanu-PF youth league executive.

Another celebrity who wants to add another feather to his cap is Herentals Football Club owner and player Innocent Benza.

Making history as the oldest player to play in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League seems not to be enough for Benza who is aspiring to represent Zanu-PF in Mutasa Central Constituency in Manicaland Province.

Farai Jere, a football club administrator of repute, is among the prominent personalities vying for the opportunity to represent Zanu-PF in the upcoming 2023 elections.

Jere, who is the President of the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League and the owner of CAPS United, has expressed interest in representing the part in Murewa West Constituency.

Former national team footballer and football pundit Charlie “Kabhasikoro” Jones is yet another football administrator who is vying for political office.

Jones, who was appointed CAPS United chief executive officer last year, wants to represent Zanu-PF in Ward 2 Sunningdale Constituency.

Honourable mentions are former ZBC presenter and CEO Happison Muchechetere, and businessmen Mike Chimombe, Scott Kupa and Phillip Chiyangwa.
