DeMbare under criticism after six hours without a goal

Dynamos coach Herbert “Jompano” Maruwa and his squad can’t get away from the limelight after lasting more than six hours without winning, much alone scoring.

The Glamour Boys’ problems in the “Battle of Zimbabwe” continued on Thursday with another goalless draw in their rescheduled league match at Barbourfields.

DeMbare had a scoreless draw for the fourth consecutive encounter.

But Maruwa and his team won’t have time to dwell on the draw at Barbourfields since they face another difficult job tomorrow against Ngezi Platinum Stars at Baobab.

Of course, the gaffer, who could be under increasing fire should Dynamos fail to win at Ngezi Platinum tomorrow, has many issues to worry about ahead of tomorrow’s tie.

He has to manage his players who have to retain maximum concentration in their second away match inside four days.

They are playing their third match inside seven days after they also hosted Manica Diamonds last Sunday.

The Glamour Boys travelled over 800km to and from Bulawayo within two days and they will also travel over 150km to Ngezi.

And Maruwa hinted he could as well bring some changes into the squad tomorrow.

“Of course we can’t afford to continue like this. We have gone for too long without winning games and we ought to pull up our socks.

“We are already in Harare training (yesterday) because we have to manage our players’ fatigue,” said Maruwa.

“We have to play three games in seven days. It is very difficult for us. We have bodies which have to recover and we are hoping for the best. “We have failed to score goals over the past four games and it is very disappointing. But the encouraging thing is that we are managing to create chances.

“Look, creating chances is one of the most difficult things in this game. But we are getting into those areas and we have the starting point so to say.

“Even in our match against Highlanders, we played very well but we failed to score. We managed to create very good chances though”. Maruwa said his team will come good against Ngezi Platinum tomorrow.

“Ngezi Platinum is a good team but we are going all out for a win.

“We have been working on our finishing. We need to convert those chances. The stage we are at in this league marathon is critical. We can’t afford to drop points like we have done in our last four games.

“The good thing is we are playing one of the top teams, Ngezi Platinum Stars in our next match (tomorrow).

“We need to collect ourselves after a tiresome week, recharge our batteries and be focused.

“I see one of the main reasons we are failing to score is lack of composure in front of goal. We have able players who can decide matches for us.

“We need to go out there, fight for every ball and try to win the game.

“Ngezi Platinum are a very good team and very difficult to beat especially at their home”.

Maruwa is wary of Ngezi Platinum’s home credentials after the miners dispatched champions FC Platinum in their last home tie with relative ease.

“We will try to make our game plan work against a team that plays well in front of their home crowd.

“We are appealing to our supporters to be patient as we build combinations with the impressive personnel that we have at Dynamos.

“We have been dropping points but we are definitely within reach of those on top of us. We just need to put in the work”.
