Equatorial Guinea Government Investigates Senior Official After Leaked Explicit Footage

A significant scandal has erupted in Equatorial Guinea following the revelation of explicit videos allegedly showing Baltasar Ebang Engonga, the Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), in compromising sexual situations.

According to reports from *Vanguard*, the videos are said to involve high-profile individuals, including Engonga’s brother’s wife, his cousin, and even the sister of the country’s president. There are also allegations that Engonga, a married father of six, engaged in sexual activities in public places with the wives of influential government figures, such as the Director of Presidential Security, the Attorney General, and the Director of Police.

The footage, which was reportedly discovered in his personal office, seems to have been recorded consensually. However, there are concerns that some of the recordings may have been non-consensual. The videos have since leaked online, igniting a media firestorm.

The discovery of the videos came during a raid last week by the Attorney General’s Office, which had originally been focused on uncovering evidence of fraud. The investigation led to the discovery of the explicit material stored on multiple CDs within Engonga’s office.

In response to the scandal, Equatorial Guinea’s Vice President, Teodora Nguema, condemned the actions, issuing a public statement on X (formerly Twitter). He announced the immediate suspension of officials involved in such activities, emphasizing that the government would take severe action against those responsible.

“We will take firm measures against these acts, as they represent a serious violation of our Code of Conduct and Public Ethics Law,” Nguema stated. “This is a part of our commitment to zero tolerance for behaviors that erode public service integrity. Ethics, professionalism, and respect are the cornerstones of our administration, and we will not allow misconduct to damage public trust.”

Engonga, who heads the ANIF, is responsible for overseeing financial investigations and leading efforts to combat corruption within the country.
