A married couple, Rudorwashe Nkomo (36) and Blantina Zvidawo (33), found themselves facing charges of impersonating a police officer, as they were brought before the Triangle Magistrates’ Court.
The allegations arose on 17th February 2024 when the Zimbabwe Republic Police received a tip-off regarding suspected individuals masquerading as law enforcement officers. These individuals, dressed in full police uniform, were reported to have disembarked from a kombi at Triangle.
Swift action by the police led to the tracking down of the couple as they were making their way towards Mfakose within Triangle.

Upon apprehension, it was discovered that Rudorwashe Nkomo, the first accused person, was adorned in riot trousers, a grey shirt, ZRP titles, a lanyard, a blue cap, and a drab cap. His partner, Blantina Zvidawo, was found with green traffic sleeves.
Resisting arrest, the second accused person engaged in a physical struggle with the police before being subdued. Subsequent investigations revealed that Rudorwashe Nkomo, beyond impersonation, had served as a Police constable before deserting his job in August 2023, adding an ironic twist to the situation.
The couple’s attempt to deceive others by posing as law enforcement officers was brought to light. Following a thorough examination of evidence and testimonies, the Triangle Magistrates’ Court handed down a wholly suspended 6-month sentence to Rudorwashe Nkomo and Blantina Zvidawo. Additionally, they were ordered to perform 280 hours of community service.
