HARARE – Marry Mubaiwa has been freed from further remand on the charge of attempting to murder Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

Regional Magistrate  Musaiona Shortgame acquitted Mubaiwa after dismissing a State application for postponement of the trial to November 25 to secure witnesses.

The State alleged that Mubaiwa unplugged Vice President Chiwenga’s life support system while he was admitted to a hospital in South Africa.

In his ruling, Mr. Shortgame said the protracted trial had prejudiced Mubaiwa physically, mentally and financially.

The case had been before the courts for seven years.
